Expert Troubleshooting If you have power out in one specific area or your entire home, RELAX. Most of the time the problem seems worse than it is, however, there’s still a possibility that it could still be serious, so you should call a licensed electrical contractor right away. At HomePro Electric, our expert electricians deal with all types of electrical problems in homes just like yours everyday. What seems like a “Big” problem to the typical homeowner, can be an easy solution for a trained journeyman electrician. Unlike most company’s, our technicians receive ongoing technical and customer service training and specialize in assessing, explaining and repairing household electrical problems in a safe, efficient manner. Once the problem has been assessed, our tech will explain exactly what needs to be done, and present all possible options available to you. This will allow you to make a knowledgeable decision on the work that is required to get you back up and running! Call us now and we’ll send one of our expert electricians to your home to get your power restored so you can once again have peace of mind. A live person will always answer the phone! Fuse/Breaker Panel Upgrade Are you still struggling with an outdated fuse or breaker panel? Do you have circuits that are overloaded? Have circuits been “doubled-up” because you don’t have the capacity for additional circuits? Has new wiring been added over the years, and does it meet code? Has your Insurance Company refused to renew your homeowners insurance due to obsolete wiring? Are you trying to sell or close on your home? If any of the above statements apply to you, your home may be in need of a service panel upgrade. IMPORTANT: Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) and Zinsco breaker panels were very common in the 70’s & 80’s. Since they were the “panel of choice” for so many contractors, it’s now well documented that homes equipped with these two brands are at a greater risk of fire and other electrical hazards. If you have a FPE breaker panel in your home, see http://www.inspect-ny.com/fpe/fpepanel.htm for more information. If you have a Zinsco breaker panel in your home, see http://www.inspect-ny.com/electric/Zinsco.htm for more information. If your present circuit breaker panel has any breakers that are manufactured by a different panel manufacturer, BEWARE! This is fairly common practice because many breaker designs are mechanically interchangeable (they will fit). But this practice does not meet UL listing standards. If there were a fire and it was decided that the panel played a part in it, this action may void your Homeowners Insurance Policy. (Feel free to call and ask your insurance company about this.) Older Equipment and wiring systems weren’t designed to support the modern appliances of today. Overloading and piggy-backing of circuits is common in outdated fuse or breaker panels, the result of improper installations that were never inspected. This can cause fires. Upgrading to a new main circuit breaker panel, can immediately eliminate this potentially dangerous situation. Modern Circuit Breaker Panels are more convenient, and are built to far higher safety standards than outdated fuse panels. In addition, modern circuit breakers are available with additional safety features such as Ground-Fault and Arc-Fault protection that provide added safety for homeowners. Here are some of the benefits of upgrading your panel: Possibility of receiving a reduced rate on your homeowners insurance (contact your agent to see if you qualify) Reduce the chance of an electrical fire. Ability to add modern life saving breaker technology Eliminate doubled-up circuits. Eliminate the need to replace fuses, or the chance to install the wrong size of fuse, which is a common fire hazard. Capacity to add additional circuits in the future. Increase the resale value of your home. Home Safety Audit At HomePro Electric, it is our job to make sure your home is electrically safe. Faulty wiring and lack of maintenance causes more fire damage to homes than any other source. That is why we complete a complimentary visual Home Safety Audit in EVERY home we go to. It is our responsibility as professional electricians to address current problems, detect future problems, and do everything possible to keep your family safe and prevent damage to your home. Just like any other system in your home, your homes electrical system wears out over time. We train our electricians to evaluate your home and educate you about the safety of your electrical system. Sometimes repairs are needed right away, sometimes they can be put on the back burner, and other times it may just be an option to consider. Before they leave your home, based on a visual audit, our friendly electrician(s) will provide a written report (for your eyes only) so you’ll know the general condition of your home’s electrical system as well as our recommendations for work that is needed (if any) to keep you and your family safe. Sometimes a home may need a lot of electrical work, other times it may be in excellent condition. Unlike other companies that may try to push unneeded costly repairs on you, our electricians look for the most economic solution, that still provides the highest level of safety, which gives you peace of mind! All this may sound like a lot of work and it is! But we feel we’d be doing you a disservice if we were to leave your home knowing that their are obvious safety issues that need addressing.
